Gentex Auto-Dimming Mirror Descriptions and Part Number information

This page is here to help explain the differences between the current line of Gentex Aftermarket mirrors. These mirrors are identified by a part number stamped on the back of the mirror housing. Earlier model mirrors, manufactured between 2002 and 2005 used the 50-GENKxx part number, examples 50-GENK50, 50-GENK20. Beginning in 2006, when newer model mirrors began production, an "A" was added to the end of the part number to indicate the newer style mirrors, examples 50-GENK50A, 50-GENK20A. The mirrors manufactured after 2006 are visually different than the older style mirrors and incorporate newer technology with many improvements over the older mirrors. You can identify the Part Number of your mirror by the stamp on the back of the mirror housing.
Please note that OEM mirrors, mirrors manufactured for an automobile manufacturer like Nissan, Ford, etc, will have the automobile makers part number and not a 50-GENKxxA part number.

The table below contains descriptions and pictures of some of the current line of Aftermarket Gentex Auto-Dimming mirrors.
Please note that some of the 50-GENKxxA part numbers use the same mirror and indicate only a difference in the wire harness included with the mirror. For example the 50-GENK50A and 50-GENK51A both use the exact same mirror but include different harnesses.
For these mirrors the "0" in the 50-GENKx0A part number indicates an aftermarket harness that uses heavier gauge color coded wire and includes in-line fuse holders, the "1" in the 50-GENKx1A part number indicates a harness manufactured by Gentex that uses smaller gauge black wire without the in-line fuse holders.

Aftermarket Harness
Aftermarket Harnesses include heavy gauge color coded wire, in-line fuse holders and in-line connectors to assist with installation by separating the harness into sections. |
Gentex Harness
Gentex Harnesses use a lighter gauge black ribbon wire. Wires are marked for identification with a white stripe on one wire to aid installation. No in-line fuse holders or connectors are included. Mirrors with temperature sensors require the installer to insert the temperature sensor wires into the mirror connector.

These 2 Part Numbers share the exact same mirror. The difference between the 2 Part Numbers is the different harness. The 50A comes with an aftermarket harness, the 51A comes with a Gentex harness.
